Flying via Bangkok to KL - this 3+1 night stop over trip was a mega-bulous-fun one. We consumed way too much really :) :) :)
Photos taken are absolutely random - all these little wonders /
PEK 2-5NOV
Ok.. SOHO is demanding!
gave me 3 days notice before the trip. lucky enough my visa was for a year.
was in PEK all by myself earlier this month and to sum up what i did..
day1- sunday
11pm arrived PEK
day2-monday
9am soho chaowai office (ha! i got in their office just on time, and had no trouble getting the cabbie to drive me to chaowai woohoo)
915am soho beijing residence site visit (they showed me all the flaws mamamia its their fault! v poor craftmanship has proven soho cheapo-ness. oh well.. this is part of the reason mr seah is not interested to go huh!)
10.30am settled soho san li tun (pick ugly stones! sigh just make do with some not so bad looking ones. mr seah will shake his head and say 'nevermind' i think!)
12noon lunch w 5 uncles (ye nan cuisine) 3rd level chaowai
1pm ok its soho zgc's turn (pick materials. selections are not so bad. anyway zgc's colour scheme is red white black. all primary colour. easy!)
1.30pm zgc site (45min long trip to get there!) yucks the site is v ugly!
4pm more zgc and run landscape design w Genevieve
6pm they let me go. and i ran into this jap guy running soho san li tun from kkaa(kuma). and gosh all the japs in soho office is colourless. pale. no sleep. work too hard?
6.30pm im at birdnest! omg should've gone at day time. the lighting at night looks tacky.
7.30pm san li tun. uniqlo! then to the market + solo dinner. also bought GG + samantha who pirated dvds haha
10pm beijing taiyue heights apartment. sleep.
day3-tuesday
9am soho chao wai. slt for a bit.
11am they let me go?! gila
11.15am the place. the mall was literally empty.
12noon i went t0 798. an artist hub. i think it was on 3rd ring road. apporx 30min from city centre. lunch sendiri!
230pm wangfujing. window shopping
330pm walked from wangfujing to tiananmen. exhausting but felt v liberated. tiananmen was exactly like 3-4 yrs ago when i was there. full of tourist from overseas and china itself. gate to gate is a long walk. i went from all black to all grey after walking. sigh.
5pm back in chaowai. more material picking
8pm peking duck dinner with the client
10pm back in the hotel. packing
day4-wednesday
6am still dark. took a cab
8.45am left for SIN
6pm @mod trengganu office
*some quick random shots from the trip
1/ it really looks like UFO. v alien to the context. just diagonally across from tiananmen!
2/ i snapped this pic of Zaha Hadid's model for SOHO ChaoYangMen
3/ tiananmen sq
4/ all grey me. beijing was 5degree celcius

HI SATURDAY
CSS - MUSIC IS MY HOT, HOT SEX
Despite their amateur looking video, i found this song very catchy. Put this on the ipod loud, wear those earphone, stop listening to the colleagues, off to do my work, in my own world.
THE WHITEST BOY ALIVE - GOLDEN CAGE
Music of the month - by the colleagues' influence.

CSS
Music of the week: CSS - Let's Make Love and Listen to Death Above
Been playing this on the ipod over and over again these 2 days in the office. Somehow it helps me concentrate, focusing on finishing my ZCG signage package.
It's been extremely hectic lately, with the old and new soho china projects on hand, work trip to PEK, and another new baby in Dubai. All the best!
It's 3am, just got back from work, suffering insomnia.

FEARON HAY

Fearon Hay.
I found myself having hard times selecting images out of their website. Their work is a joy to look at -
The play of materials, the design and detail intelligence, the holistic approach in architecture - it manifests and translates the way of living - effortlessly.
hmm... and not to mention the minimal reliance of designer's chair -

JULIE SOHN

Notice the slim poles, one headless mannequin, lazy slim mirror at either side, and partial division in proportion to the ceiling height -

JEFF KOONS

Very very cool public art installation by Jeff Koons, an artist based in NYC. Inflatable sculpture! Pop, sophisticated, yet monumental.

.
ps. we ran the MOD night tour yesterday and today for Archifest08.
'are these all this neat all the time?'
'omg look at the pencils. they're all sharpened'
'so neat, amazing!'
we've been getting these comments a lot even before the tour.
and i know i've always been amused by the effort our office takes to unwrap the toilet paper from the plastic packaging, and stack many many of them to fill up the whole shelves.
oh well.. the bosses are anal u know.... and they've trained us well indeed!
no colour post-it pasted on monitors, no food on desks, clean desk policy!
